People Can't Stop Talking About the Jeep Wrangler JL

The Jeep Wrangler has been re-born into a whole new generation, and it's hard not to love it.

It's even harder to stop talking about it.

We detailed some differences between the old and the new generation when we compared the Jeep Wrangler JL vs Jeep Wrangler JK in a blog post back in February, but there's a lot more to talk about with new changes, new updates, new powertrains, and new engineering.

And, how Jeep was able to make all of these key changes without ever changing the true soul of this award-winning, legendary icon of the off-roading world.

New Jeep Wrangler JL Engine Options

One of the biggest changes for the all-new Jeep Wrangler JL comes tucked under the hood. The new model now offers (or will offer within the next year) three unique engine options:

  • 285-horsepower 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine--standard on all models
  • 270-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine--available
  • N/A-spec'd 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V6 engine--expected to join the lineup when the 2019 Jeep Wrangler JL is released

The Jeep Wrangler has had a powerful V6 engine on-board for a while now, so that wasn't a huge surprise--but the new, equipped eTorque system was. eTorque is FCA's solution for boosting fuel economy and efficiency without sacrificing ride quality or driving feel; the system essentially replaces the alternator to make this powertrain a "mild-hybrid" setup.

Between the eTorque-assisted V6 and the all-new turbo, this is the most-efficient Jeep Wrangler yet.

It's a whole new generation of off-road SUVs, for a whole new generation of those who love Jeep.
